Celebrating 121 Years of Global Impact and Local Action
On February 28th, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt GRA transformed into a vibrant tapestry of global cultures, hosting a spectacular “International Night.” The event was more than just a gathering; it was a glamorous celebration of Rotary’s rich diversity, a tribute to our organization’s 121st birthday, and a powerful showcase of the life-changing work fueled by The Rotary Foundation (TRF).
A Global Spirit in Port Harcourt
The evening was a stunning visual representation of the Rotary spirit. Members arrived dressed in vibrant, authentic cultural attire spanning the globe—from the intricate patterns of the Xhosa and Fulani to the regal styles of the Igbo, alongside stunning Indian, Western, and Arab ensembles.
This colorful display was a testament to one of our greatest strengths: Diversity. Rotary is a global network of people united by a common purpose—to serve humanity. Our diverse cultures, professions, and perspectives are precisely what strengthen our ability to understand local needs, collaborate across borders, and build sustainable solutions to real-world problems.
Celebrating 121 Years of Service
We took a moment to reflect on 121 years of Rotary. For over a century, our organization has stood as a beacon of friendship and global impact. From the historic fight to eradicate polio to our ongoing commitments to peacebuilding, education, and disease prevention, Rotary continues to demonstrate what committed individuals can accomplish when they work together for the common good.

The heart of our impact lies with The Rotary Foundation (TRF), the charitable arm that turns our contributions into tangible humanitarian aid. The highlight of the evening was honoring the champions who make this possible.

Recognition: We proudly honored 11 new Paul Harris Fellows for their deep commitment to Rotary’s mission.

Generosity in Action: Through spontaneous donations and an exciting American-style auction of a signature Rotary wheel painting, our members rallied to raise significant funds in support of the Foundation.
Why do we give? Because it works. Through TRF, Rotarians have brought the world to the brink of polio eradication, provided clean water to millions, and funded countless scholarships and healthcare initiatives. These achievements are only possible because of the continued generosity of our members and friends.
Growing the Rotary Family
A club is only as strong as its members, and we were thrilled to welcome new energy into our ranks. During the festivities, we inducted six new Rotarians and recognized five distinguished individuals as Honorary Members. We are honored to have these new members join our global movement of people committed to “Service Above Self.”
