Revitalization of the Maternity Ward at the Model Primary Health Centre, Akpajo
In a remarkable display of community service, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt GRA has successfully revitalized the maternity ward at the Model Primary Health Centre in Akpajo, Eleme LGA, Rivers State. This vital project, completed and commissioned on July 1, 2024, underscores the Club’s unwavering commitment to improving maternal and child healthcare in underserved communities.
A Vision for Healthier Mothers and Children
Driven by the urgent need to improve maternity conditions, the project aimed to enhance maternal care quality, reduce mortality rates, and ensure a safe, hygienic, and well-equipped facility for expectant mothers. The upgraded ward now serves thousands of residents in Akpajo and surrounding communities, offering improved prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care.

Interior Renovation: The ward received a complete facelift—walls and tiles were cleaned and repainted, plumbing and electrical systems upgraded (including a 5kW solar inverter), and new furniture and medical equipment provided.
